Commercial Food Waste Disposal Changes
Commercial food waste generated in Salmon Arm, Sicamous, and Electoral Areas C and D is now
marketable, and can be composted at a private facility.
In an effort to provide time for commercial food waste generators to subscribe to the lower cost composting option that is now available, the commercial food waste disposal fee of $160/tonne has been reduced to $80/tonne until July 1, 2018. All businesses and commercial institutions will be impacted, including:
|• Hotels||• Theatres, Arenas and Sports Facilities|
|• Grocery Stores||• Shopping Malls|
|• Schools||• Restaurants|
|• Community Associations||• Resorts|
|• Offices||• Manufacturers|
|• Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Senior Care Centres||• Municipal Buildings|
