CSRD introduces phased office reopening plans

Friday, June 5, 2020

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) administrative office will be reopening to the public for four hours per day and by appointment only beginning Monday, June 8, 2020.

The public hours of operation will be 10 AM to 2 PM, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

Appointments are strongly encouraged to avoid congestion and adhere to physical distancing regulations. As with all businesses, the CSRD will be adhering to special sanitization and physical distancing protocols guided by WorkSafe BC to help protect workers and members of the public.

The CSRD office closure was initiated March 20, 2020. After that time, most CSRD staff began working remotely and responded to public needs via email and telephone. The public is still encouraged to contact the CSRD by telephone and email as much as possible.

At a Special Meeting on Thursday, June 4, 2020, the CSRD Board approved a motion to support a phased Return to Work Plan as part of efforts to provide services while also limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The CSRD greatly appreciates the patience, courtesy and caring that has been shown by our residents during this office closure. We hope this consideration will continue as we gradually restore full in-office operations, which will proceed based on the advice of BC's Provincial Health Officer.

During the first phase of the public reopening, a reduced number of staff will be working from the office, operating with the appropriate physical distancing restrictions.

The goal of the Return to Work Plan is to have regular public hours of operation from 9 AM to 4 PM Monday to Friday in early July and the full complement of staff working in the CSRD office by early September 2020. This, of course, is dependent on changes in the situation regarding COVID-19. The Board has granted CSRD senior staff the authority to be responsive to any changes in health policy, and adjust rapidly, if needed.
