Landfills, transfer stations remain open, COVID-19 changes implemented

Monday, March 23, 2020

At this time, all Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) landfills and transfer stations remain open to the public during the regularly scheduled hours of operation

The safety of our workers and the public during the COVID-19 pandemic is our primary concern.

As such, the CSRD is asking all users of the sites to respect the physical distancing measures recommended by BC's Medical Health Officer. This means remaining in your vehicle as much as possible, and keeping a distance of two metres (which equates to two arm-lengths) from others.

Residents should be aware that there may be delays at landfill and transfer sites due to the implementation of physical distancing recommendations and the number of residents conducting spring cleaning activities. We ask that users of the sites please be patient and respect all procedures put in place to protect public safety.

All the Re-Use Centres at the landfill sites are closed until further notice. These centres are areas where the public can drop reusable items in good working condition, for others to take home free-of-charge. We will notify the public once this service resumes.

The CSRD is asking for the public's help by choosing to make payment and landfills and transfer stations with either credit or debit cards. Cash transactions are still being accepted, but correct change is appreciated.

Any changes to landfill or transfer station operations during the COVID-19 pandemic will be communicated through our website, social media platforms and appropriate signage at the sites.
