CSRD offers pilot program for clothing donations

Thursday, November 14, 2019

If your closets are overflowing with clothes and your linens are tumbling out of their cupboard, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) has a new option.

The CSRD is partnering with  Big Brothers Big Sisters Central and Southern Interior of BC to provide designated collection bins for clothing, shoes, linens and towels.

This program is still in the pilot stage and is being offered at Salmon Arm Landfill, as well as the Sicamous and Malakwa Transfer Stations.

Collection bins can accept the following items:

  • Clothing of any kind;
  • Shoes and boots;
  • Bedding and linens;
  • Draperies and towels.

The CSRD hopes to increase this program to other sites after evaluating the success of the pilot program.

Residents can drop off their gently used items in the appropriate bins during regular operating hours.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a non-profit organization that matches youth to adult mentors. The organization uses the donation bins to fund their programs.
