CSRD wants commercially generated printed paper and packaging added to Recycle BC program

Thursday, January 10, 2019

The CSRD Board wants to improve the ability of businesses in the region to access local recycling programs and are asking the provincial government for a change in policy to allow for it.

Directors voted unanimously to send a letter to the Ministry of Environment requesting the Recycle BC Stewardship Program be altered to include commercially generated recycling.

Currently, Recycle BC, which is the agency that handles recycling operations for the CSRD recycling depot network, only accepts recyclables from residential consumers. Commercially generated recycling is not permitted to be dropped off at CSRD operated recycling depots.
