Galena Bay Evacuation Alert Update

UPDATE: August 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM.

An Evacuation Alert was issued by staff at the Revelstoke and Area Emergency Operations Centre at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 for an area around Galena Bay.

Fire Crews had good success yesterday on the Galena Bay Fire by focusing on the base of the fire. Fire crews have actioned three quarters of the west flank of the fire and have a hose line and sprinkler line working the base. There are a total of 12 staff on site and a reassessment of operations will be transpiring today. Our next update will be at 4:00 PM.

A Wildfire burning southeast of Galena Bay has brought a potential safety risk. Because of the potential danger to life and health, the Revelstoke and Area Emergency Management Program has issued an Evacuation Alert for the following areas:

- Galena Bay Area near Highway 23 and 31 (as shown on updated attached map) An Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your premises or property should it be found necessary.

Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, if required; however you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
