There will be new ways for children to enjoy Tom Kelley Memorial Park in Electoral Area A (Rural Golden).
At its June 17, 2021 Regular Meeting, the CSRD Board approved spending $35,000 from the Electoral Area A Community Works Fund to install an additional playground climbing structure, as well as adding benches and fencing.
The park, located at 1703 Oberg Johnson Road in the Blaeberry, currently has a wooden play structure and swing set designed for children from two to five-years-old.
In discussion with the Electoral Area A Parks Advisory Committee, community focus groups and Electoral Area A Director Karen Cathcart, consensus was reached to purchase a new climbing structure which targets children aged five to 12.
The total budget for the park upgrade is $95,000. The remainder of the funds will be coming from the CSRD's park's budget, along with a contribution of $20,000 from grant funding.
Park improvements are planned for fall of 2021 subject to contractor availability.
