Sorrento-Blind Bay Sport Court upgrade in the works

The Sorrento-Blind Bay sport court painted with new lines

Users of the sport court at the Sorrento-Blind Bay Community Park can get back in the game, but things will be even better for players in 2023.

The sport court was resurfaced in 2021, however, there were flaws with leveling and drainage that needed to be addressed by the contractor. Repairs were made and lines were painted to allow the court to be used, but a patchwork of seams and varied colours still cover the court.

To further improve the playing surface, Directors of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District voted unanimously in favour of spending an additional $40,000 from Electoral Area C Community Works Funds to add a high-calibre acrylic coating to the court’s surface. Once installed, the coating will make the surface ideal for sports like tennis, pickleball and basketball.

The Board awarded the contract for the coating to Tomko Sports Systems Inc. The company was already fully booked for 2022, so the application of the coating will take place as early as possible in 2023.
