For all fires in the Shuswap, the weather forecast is calling for much, hotter, drier and windier conditions, which can feed fire growth. BC Wildfire Service is preparing for this new challenge.
A priority in all areas of the Fire Centre is keeping Initial Attack fire crews at the ready to deal with any new fire starts.
White Rock Lake
- BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) was reporting good progress on this fire over the past 24 hours.
- Structure Protection teams have completed assessments on structures on the north and west sides of the fire and sprinklers have been installed on recommended properties in the Falkland, Westwold and Pinaus Lake areas.
- Structure protection is now being evaluated for agricultural operations.
- Fire size is now 56,500 hectares.
- There was no growth outside existing control lines for most of the fire area, including the flank affecting Falkland.
- No changes to current Evacuation Orders or Alerts are being considered at this time due to concerns regarding the weather forecast affecting fire behavior.

Two Mile Fire
- With public safety the top priority, the status of the fire is being evaluated regularly. The current Evacuation Alert will stay in effect until the threat to the community is significantly reduced.
- The fire remains classified as out of control at 1,389 hectares.
- It continues to burn in steep and dangerous terrain. Numerous machine guards have been cut and are being reinforced by ground crews, while improved visibility has allowed air support to operate effectively.
- Crews are continuing a direct attack along the Sicamous Ridge Road, as well as work along the fire perimeter of Highway 97 to Skyline Forest Service Road.
Crazy Creek Gorge FSR Fire
- BCWS notes there has been good success with developing contingency guards and working especially around the fire's edge at the 14-km mark on the 2420 Forest Service Road.
- The fire size is pegged at 3,586 hectares.
- Structure protection efforts continue with the last of the sprinkler set-ups being conducted today.
- Crews have also started working directly on the fire perimeter, heading upslope from Pete Martin Bay. If conditions allow, a small hand-ignition operation may take place today to further secure this line.
Hunakwa Lake Fire
- The fire size is listed at 3,355 hectares, which is updated due to more accurate mapping.
- Crews are patrolling for hot spots along the fire guards.
- Progress made on the containment of the west and north sides of the fire has meant that structure protection is no longer required. Demobilization of Structure Protection systems on the east shore of Seymour Arm is now completed.
Three Valley Lake
- Fire size is estimated at 433 hectares
- A thermal imaging scan was completed on August 10 along the south and west sides of the fire, nearest to the Trans-Canada Highway. This scan provided information for hot-spot targets that crews will work on today.
