[ARCHIVED] Difficult Night on Fire Lines, Residents Should Remain Alert

BC Wildfire Hotshot Firefighter

Monday, August 16, 2021

Obviously, it was a very difficult night for many in our region, both for those fighting the fires, those forced to leave their homes and those left worrying.

Our thoughts go out to all these people as we start a new day and attempt to compile information on the current fire situation.

There are many affected jurisdictions across the region and the BC Wildfire Service and all local governments are working long hours to help keep people safe.

We are already witnessing the kindness and compassion of our residents, who are offering help to evacuees and worried neighbours from around the area. Now is a time to be compassionate and to care for each other. Unfortunately, it's not over yet.

Please remain alert, monitor communications through the local government websites and their official social media platforms. Each of us has a separate area of jurisdiction and will have the best information relating to that area.

The best thing you can do now is to ensure you and your family have a plan, so you can be ready if the situation changes rapidly.
