[ARCHIVED] Salmon Arm Fairgrounds Open for Registered Evacuees

August 7 2021 Salmon Arm Fairgrounds Open for Registered Evacuees

Saturday, August 7, 2021

The Salmon Arm Fairgrounds is now providing dry camping accommodations for evacuated owners with hobby farm animals at the site located at 481 5th Avenue SW, Salmon Arm.

This includes horses, goats, sheep, or llamas and alpacas. There is also minimal space for hobby cattle. Poultry or domestic pets can be accommodated if in cages or kennels.

  • Step 1 - White Rock Fire Evacuees - Take your animals to the Salmon Arm Fairgrounds and phone the Emergency Support Services (ESS) Reception Centre at 250-833-3360.
  • Step 2 - The person on the phone will register you and provide you with the required approvals.
  • Step 3 - A volunteer will give you directions to get set up on-site.

Only owners and animals from Evacuation Order areas will be accepted at this time. Residents looking to take advantage of the service MUST follow these steps and be properly registered with ESS.

Owners MUST stay on-site with their animals and bring their own supplies, as much as possible.

Washrooms are available, but no hook-ups.

Any commercial farm operators need to make separate arrangements with the Emergency Operations Centre by calling 250-833-3395.

Donations of animal feed and bedding will be gratefully accepted. Please call Phil Wright at 250-803-2718 if you would like to make a contribution.
