13 Hours
White Rock Lake Fire
- This fire has become the number one firefighting priority in the province with a high level of ground and air resources dedicated to this effort.
- Improved visibility yesterday allowed the BC Wildfire Service to track the southern and eastern fire perimeter.
- The decrease in smoke has also allowed aircraft to be safely utilized for fire suppression efforts.
- Structure protection personnel are prepared to defend Westwold, Falkland, Cedar Hills, Pinaus Lake, and communities along Westside Road, including Okanagan Indian Band IR#1.
- Weather forecasts are showing the possibility for thunderstorms and a slight risk of showers into the evening.
Two Mile Fire
- As visibility improves, helicopter bucketing will increase. Boaters are asked to immediately leave the area If helicopters or other aircraft are working on the lake.
- The Highway 97A closure in still in place for responder safety, operations, and falling debris. The Ministry of Highways is conducting a geotechnical and danger tree assessment and will review those results before making on a decision on re-opening.
- The fire remains classified as Out of Control.
Crazy Creek Gorge FSR Fire
- This fire is sitting high on the north facing slope in a remote location and after recent rain fire behaviour has lowered to Rank 2. That ranking means a surface fire, with visible open flame, but a slow rate of growth.
- The BC Wildfire Service is anticipating some of the smoke will lift today and allow for aerial mapping of the fire.
- A Structure Protection Specialist is working in the area at Queest and Pete Martin Bay and is looking at all options for water delivery.
Hunakwa Lake Fire
- As smoke lifts and aircraft is able to fly, crews will once again be able to try and fight the fire from the air. Better mapping will also be possible.
- There are 22 firefighters and two helicopters assigned to the fire, as well as CSRD Structure Protection personnel.
- The east flank of the fire continues to be a challenge as it slowly burns north into inoperable terrain, which is posing a risk to responders.
Three Valley Lake Fire
- The Evacuation Order for Three Valley Chateau and Ghost Town was lifted yesterday, August 3. That area reverts to Alert status.
- Fire is showing reduced behaviour to the south but slightly more aggressive to the north on top of the ridge. Rocks dislodging from steep cliffs on the east side of Three Valley Gap is causing a safety hazard.
