The Sicamous Creek and North Fork Wild Trails are now back open to the public after wildfires closed the area as of July 22, 2021.
The Shuswap Trail Alliance has now completed a safety assessment of the trails following the wildfire season to ensure they are safe for use. Wildfires in the area did not directly impact the trails, located at 800 - 2 Mile Road, Sicamous.
A regular maintenance sweep was also conducted to ensure the trails are free of any hazards and the trails are reported to be in good condition.
Sicamous Creek Trails are developed and maintained by the CSRD in collaboration with the Shuswap Trail Alliance and the District of Sicamous. This recreational trail is an easy 0.5 km hike through rich hemlock forest with scenic views of Sicamous Creek.
Recreation Sites and Trails BC checked the area of the North Fork Wild Trails and has now given the green light to reopen to the public.
The North Fork Wild was donated to the CSRD in 2012. It is a spectacular 51.42 acres bordering the North Fork of the Perry River. It boasts an impressive network of trails that wind through the land's intact primary cedar and hemlock forests. This property is east of Craigallachie and adjacent to both the Perry River Forest Service Road and Avoca Road West.
