[ARCHIVED] Additional Upgrade Enhances Sorrento-Blind Bay Community Park

Sorrento Blind Bay Community Park Paving

Friday, October 1, 2021

Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Directors were happy to support a bargain price for an upgrade at the Sorrento Blind Bay Community Park.

The Board recently supported resurfacing of a sport court at the park, which was tendered to Dawson Construction Ltd. The upper parking lot, however, was also in need of repair.

The paving contractor also has existing paving contracts with the Ministry of Transportation for roadwork in the area, with an asphalt paving plant nearby. CSRD staff saw an opportunity to have both projects done at a lower price than if completed separately.

Dawson was able to offer a competitive price to resurface the upper parking lot, which is also the area converted to an outdoor skating rink when weather conditions permit during the winter months.

The CSRD Board unanimously approved the expenditure of $60,000 from the Electoral Area C Community Works fund to complete both projects this year.

The paving work for both the sport court and the upper parking lot is currently underway and should be completed by October 2, 2021. This will be followed up by replacement of fencing and the sports nets. The project is scheduled for completion on October 8.
