The CSRD will be conducting semi-annual servicing of approximately 410 fire hydrants in various fire suppression service areas in Electoral Area C, D, F and G.
The planned maintenance schedule is:
- Anglemont - April 24 to 27
- Falkland - April 28 to 29
- Sunnybrae - April 30
- Saratoga - May 1
- MacArthur Heights - May 2 to 5
- Eagle Bay - May 6
- Sorrento - May 7 to 12
- Cedar Heights - May 13 to 17
- Shuswap Lake Estates - May 18 to 24
- Lakeview Place - May 25
Following the hydrant flushing, residents may notice discoloration from sediment in the water system. Discolored water comes from sediment getting stirred up from the high flows during hydrant testing. This discoloration is not harmful, as the water has been disinfected.
Air may also be present in piping. Running a garden hose or cold water bathtub faucet for several minutes should eliminate both air and discoloration.
