Update for July 30, 2021
White Rock Lake fire is estimated at 20,891 ha in size. Conditions on site are extremely smoky, which is hampering the ability for aircraft to fly and challenging suppression efforts. Heavy smoke in the area is also impacting hydro lines. Given the amount of fuel loading and forecast weather conditions, elevated fire behaviour is expected to continue. Fire growth is expected to the east and northeast.
Today and Saturday, subtropical moisture may bring thunderstorms, strong winds and dry lightning to the region. There are 117 firefighters and 46 structure protection unit (SPU) personnel dedicated to this fire. All Alerts and Orders remain in place.
Two Mile Fire is estimated at 1200+ ha with 33 firefighters, structure protection units, lots of heavy equipment and guard building in the area. There is no structure loss or immediate threats, although the fire has crossed over Sicamous Creek and there is significant growth to the northeast. Highway 97A is still closed due to falling debris. All Alerts and Orders remain in place.
Hunakwa Lake Fire is estimated at 2,700 ha with growth to the east and south on the west side of Hunakwa Lake. Heavy equipment working on guard and have SPU and apparatus on site. No additional community threats. All Alerts and Orders remain in place.
