[ARCHIVED] Gift a Metre of Rail Trail

Rail Trail Gift

Rail Trail GiftTuesday, December 21, 2021

If you are looking for a last-minute gift, make it a December to remember with the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail.

Put a few metres of rail trail right in someone's stocking this season. Every donation to the rail trail allows you to dedicate the gift in someone else's name and gives you access to printing a personalized rail trail supporter certificate. It is all set up online thanks to the Shuswap and North Okanagan Community Foundations.

Buy your rail trail metres online.

You can also support the Rail Trail and send warm wishes by purchasing greeting cards by local artist, Otto Pfannschmidt, showcasing the natural beauty of the rail trail. Each dollar raised in card sales will be matched by Askew's up to $20,000, doubling your contribution!

The five-card packages are $20 and available at all four Askew's locations. Join Askew's again this holiday season in fundraising for the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail from Sicamous to Armstrong!

The community fundraising campaign for the rail trail is well under way, and 2021 was a big year with $1.2M in government grant funding secured, an additional $208,000 raised through private and corporate donors, and $232,455 in CSRD Area E and District of Sicamous Economic Opportunity Funds.

With two sections of the project scheduled for construction in 2022, Sicamous to Mara and Splatsin to Enderby, you too can help build the rail trail without lifting a shovel! One metre of trail surface is estimated to cost approximately $160, and your metres matter. Donate $160 to the project through the Shuswap Community Foundation and receive a copy of the official Rail Trail Certificate.

For more information or to donate, visit the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail website.
