Board of Variance

A Board of Variance (BOV) is an independent body of volunteers who make decisions on undue hardship applications. The CSRD BOV consists of 3 persons appointed by the CSRD Board of Directors for a three (3) year term.

Applications that the BOV typically consider include variances to a bylaw regarding siting, size or dimensions of a building or other structure, although there are other situations under Section 540 of the Local Government Act. BOV decisions are final.

Board of Variance Bylaw No. 647, Sets out the establishment, procedure, and process of the BOV.
