July 8, 2015 - Shuswap Emergency Program Update
Currently in the Shuswap Region, there are five wildfires burning, all smaller in size, with the largest being 1/2 hectare. Three of the fires are a ways north of Seymour Arm, one is in the Scotch Creek drainage area and one is alongside the Perry River.
None of these fires are currently directly impacting any people or structures, but have been contributing to the local smoky skies. With the forecast for more hot and dry weather, it is a good time for everyone to please be extremely cautious when in or around the tinder dry forests.
The Shuswap Emergency Program would like to encourage all residents to read the Fire Smart manual in order to take simple steps now to help reduce the impact of wildfire on your home and property, before it is on your doorstep.
In the event a wildfire emergency occurs, please check the Shuswap Emergency Program website at sepadvisory.ca. for information on any evacuation alerts or orders.
