The Cedar Heights water treatment plant in Electoral Area C sustained severe damage from an electrical surge on Thursday, May 25, 2017 and is currently without UV disinfection and very limited pumping capacity. The CSRD is working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Until it is rectified, the system is currently operating with only one booster pump and no UV disinfection.
The CSRD’s free Yard, Garden and Metal Waste Recycling Event is extended until Sunday, June 4, 2017 for the Revelstoke, Sicamous and Salmon Arm Landfills and the Falkland, Glenemma, Malakwa, Scotch Creek, Seymour Arm, Skimikin and Trout Lake Transfer Stations.

This new and expanded service will start beginning January 1, 2018. It will require property owners to apply to the CSRD for and receive a building permit prior to beginning construction on their property. Six building inspections will be completed by a CSRD Building Inspector during construction.

Due to the Boil Water Advisory for the Sorrento Water System the Spray Park at the Sorrento Blind Bay Park is closed until further notice.
Water Samples taken from the Cottonwood Water System have indicated an unacceptable level of bacteria. Interior Health requires a BOIL WATER NOTICE be issued for users of the water system.
The CSRD and Interior Health advise that until further notice, all users of the water system are warned to:
- boil their water at a rapid boil for at least one minute; or...
Sandbags are available for residents concerned about protecting their property from flooding. Property owners are responsible for taking steps and having the necessary equipment to protect their properties from flooding.
The Ministry of Forests, Land and Natural Resource Operations (MFLNRO) has advised that the Seymour Main Forest Service Road has been repaired and is now open to vehicle traffic. Motorists are advised that there is no stopping permitted within the slide area and to obey all traffic control signage.
