The results of the recent online survey have been compiled. The CSRD would like to thank everyone who participated and gave their feedback to let us know when the free residential yard and garden and free metal waste recycling disposal events should take place this spring.
173 people responded to the survey, and 57% voted for a March 19th start date for the Shuswap, with a start date of two weeks later for Golden and Area A.
We appreciate the feedback generated from the survey, and some of the comments are in the table below:
|"Some may say the spring free event happens too late, however we dont really know if it will be an early or late spring six months in advance. Mother Nature can be tricky at times".||We agree, it is difficult to predict the start of the free days but we've learned from feedback through this process that being adaptive helps.|
|"How about launching food waste collection in the urban areas within the CSRD?"||
The CSRD is working with our member municipalities to introduce curbside organics collection, stay tuned for more information in the weeks and months ahead.
|"This is an awesome program!"||Thanks for your support!|
|"We like the opportunity to pick the dates, will we have the same option to choose in the fall?"||The fall dates seem to be more consistent, so we've decided on September 25th to November 6th for Golden and Area A, and October 8th to November 20th in the Shuswap.|
|"Why not just start in February and run the program for 2 months?"||We are a regional program and have sites in Golden through to the north end of Shuswap Lake so starting in February is unrealistic for all our areas.|
|"The yard waste should be chipped and sold as compost."||The material is chipped and composted and sold as Kickin' Compost at our landfills and transfer stations when it is available.|
